Ultra Modern Fireplaces by Elena Colombo

Spending more time and money on our outdoor spaces has been a growing trend for a while now, and fire pits and fireplaces are a huge part of outdoor decor. These fire sculptures are dramatic examples of the future of outdoor accessories. They are made of steel, bronze and stainless steel, and are equipped to burn either propane or natural gas, so they burn cleaner and are more convenient and safer than wood. The Colombo Construction Corporation is owned by architectural designer Elena Colombo of New York, whose collection also includes wind and water features.

Ski Resort Apartment by h2o Architects

The h2o Architects “impossible mission” was to enlarge the living area of this apartment in Menuires, France, without touching the structure. The “out of the box” type of thinking helped them perceive the apartment differently than some would on a regular basis. Here is what they had to say about this subject: “To maximise the rather tight and constricted space, we chose to inverse the way of seeing it. Rather than trying to fit the furniture into the apartment, we decided to fit the apartment into the furniture!” They tried to capture the coziness of the spot and create a unique homey atmosphere. And I think they have succeeded in doing so.

The transparent housing concepts by milano-based Santambrogiomilano are designed to be built almost anywhere around the world and allow the inhabitant to be completely immersed in nature. Every component of the dwellings, except for the ground floor, is composed of structural glass pieces. The ‘Snow house’, as the name implies, would be located in colder climates and is constructed of thicker panes capable of withstanding larger loads, namely from the snow, and will help insulate the interior.
